Information Meeting on MEDEK and KAP Accreditation Processes for Logistics Program Students
An “Information Meeting on MEDEK and KAP Accreditation Processes” was held for the students of the Logistics Program, Department of Management and Organization, Balıkesir University Bigadiç Vocational School of Higher Education, on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 14:20 in Amphitheater 2.
The meeting was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ümit Yılmaz. Comprehensive information was given to students about the meaning, objectives, and advantages of accreditation in higher education. The multifaceted benefits of accreditation, such as improving the quality of education and training processes, ensuring quality assurance, gaining national and international recognition, increasing students’ employability, and encouraging continuous improvement, were emphasized.
In addition, the Institutional Accreditation Program (KAP) carried out by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) and the program accreditation processes carried out by the Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK) were introduced. Students were informed about the quality assurance system, institutional self-evaluation reports (KİDR), the PDCA cycle (Plan, Do, Check, Act), and the gains that accreditation would provide for students.
The importance of active student participation in the process was highlighted in the presentation. It was explained that participation and a sense of belonging, national and international recognition, acquisition of contemporary skills, advantages in working life, and social assurance carry significant value especially for students.
At the end of the meeting, students’ questions were answered, and their suggestions regarding the processes were received. It was underlined that the Logistics Program has applied for MEDEK accreditation and that students are an integral part of this process.
The meeting was concluded with the message “Quality is the responsibility of all of us”, stating that with the contribution of all stakeholders, the university will achieve a stronger and more reputable structure.
